The model project „Agro-Biodiversity at Lake Constance“ focuses on agricultural diversity in the Lake Constance region, covering areas in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. The consumer/tourist brochure, spanning XNUMX pages, provides an overview of dedicated farmers, gardeners, breeders, initiatives, projects, and institutions that are actively involved in promoting agro-biodiversity in the region. It offers a comprehensive perspective on the various aspects of agro-biodiversity and its significance in the international Lake Constance area. The brochure „Ancient Fruit Varieties in the Western Lake Constance Area“ provides comprehensive coverage of fruit diversity in the region. It includes descriptions of various fruit varieties and provides a section with contact information for sources where these specific fruit varieties, as well as scionwood and nursery materials, can be obtained. The brochure spans XNUMX pages. Both brochures can be obtained from the SAVE Foundation Project Office by contacting them via email at office@save-foundation.net.

Marketing labeling: Heritaste trademark
Quality label for products and services from indigenous livestock breeds and crops. The word „HERITASTE“ is a contraction of the words „Heritage“ and „Taste“.® HERITASTE is to characterize high-quality and tasty products and related services.
Conservation of genetic resources is important for future food and agriculture. A broad genetic basis ensures that future needs can be met, even in changed environmental circumstances. Genetic resources for food and agriculture include everything that humans need to ensure nutritional security – from soil micro-organisms through a range of crops to ecosystem management via grazing by large herbivores. This level of sustainability is important for the survival of future generations of humans. However, it is not just the humans of the future that can benefit. In many places where indigenous breeds and crops are still kept in a traditional way there are social and economic problems that need addressing. Even in more “developed” countries in Europe, rural disadvantage exists and recent pressure on the job market means that people are turning back to the land as a means of income. Marketing of indigenous breeds and crops can contribute to the solution of these problems by creating an income for rural areas. This income is of especial benefit to young people and to women. The label is registered with the European Trademark Office and identifies products and services provided by indigenous livestock and crops. The Heritaste® trademark was developed, within the framework of ELBARN, by SAVE Foundation to promote product marketing and as a general tool to support breeds and varieties.
Long-term monitoring: The Alpine Delphi 2007
The monitoring studies mentioned below have shown that a permanent, simple monitoring infrastructure with an early warning system is necessary. The „Alpine Delphi“ provides the opportunity to conduct a continuous overview of the situation of genetic resources in the Alps with relatively little effort.

Karakachan horses and sheep
The Karakachan sheep and horses are regional breeds that developed in the rural areas of Bulgaria due to the simplest living conditions.
The Karakachans are a Balkan nomadic people of pastoralists who are considered by most historians to be descendants of the ancient Thracian pastoralist communities.

Prespa-Cattle
As part of the study „Animal Genetic Resources in Greece,“ funded by the MAVA Foundation and conducted by the Monitoring Institute, there were multiple indications of a „dwarf cattle“ in the village of Psarades, located in the Greek part of the Prespa region. Therefore, during the winter of 2005/06, efforts were made to investigate the seriousness of these reports and to document the population.

Conservation of the Sykia steppe cattle
In the interim report of November 2010, it was reported that the last herd of Sykia cattle in Chalkidiki was examined by experts from the Agricultural University of Athens and the Genetic Improvement Center Thessaloniki. Out of 65 animals, 72 were recognized as purebred. Amaltheia, the SAVE-Partner organization in Greece, had reached an agreement with the owner to take over 10 of the animals suitable for breeding.
